About Me

Quinn Parker
Quinn Parker is a pen name. The person behind it is a residential interior designer with around fifteen years in the field - more than ten of them in the Atlanta area, and the last five in the Pacific Northwest.
Most of that time was spent with a home design company, working on hundreds of homes on everything from single-room decor refreshes to full remodels. A 1940s Atlanta bungalow and a Pacific Northwest split-level have almost nothing in common - different light, different bones, different budgets - and working across both is why this site does not assume everyone is solving the same problem in the same house.
She writes under a pen name because her day job makes publishing under her own name a conflict of interest. That is the only thing here that is not literal: the projects are real projects, and everything described on this site was actually done.

About Design and Dwelling
Design and Dwelling is a home design and DIY blog written by Quinn Parker, a residential interior designer with more than fifteen years of work in real houses — the ones with awkward corners, hand-me-down sofas and budgets that have to stretch.
The idea here is simple: good design and expensive design are not the same thing. Every guide starts from what a room actually needs — the right clearances, the right rug size, a palette that works in your light — and then finds the least expensive way to get there.
Start with the room-by-room walkthroughs: minimalist home interior design, minimalist living room ideas, and warm minimalist bedroom ideas for anyone chasing calm without cold. If your taste runs warmer and more layered, browse our affordable boho décor finds. Planning a renovation? The 2026 bathroom trends guide covers what is worth the money and what to skip.
Alongside the design guides there is a steady run of seasonal craft and DIY projects — wreaths, garlands, painted pumpkins, holiday tablescapes — written as real tutorials with real timings and costs, not just pretty photos.
