Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Design and Dwelling is reader-supported. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and go on to buy something, we may earn a small commission. It never costs you a penny more. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had found the product on your own.
Those commissions are what keep this site running — the photography, the hosting, the hours spent testing a paint finish or measuring a rug for the fourth time. If you have ever bought something through a link here, thank you. You paid for the next article.
The Amazon Associates Program
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Design and Dwelling is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Any link on this site pointing to Amazon should be assumed to be an affiliate link.
Other affiliate relationships
Alongside Amazon, we occasionally take part in affiliate programs run by other retailers and brands in the home, decor, and DIY space. The same rules apply everywhere: the link costs you nothing extra, and it is disclosed.
How we actually choose what to recommend
This is the part that matters more than the legal language.
No brand can buy a recommendation here. We are not paid to say we like something, and a commission rate has never decided which product went into an article. When we recommend a lamp, a rug, or a drill, it is because it earned the spot — on how it looks in a real room, how it holds up, and whether it makes sense at its price.
We also link to plenty of things we earn nothing from, including small makers, thrift and vintage sources, and the occasional "honestly, just use what you already own." If a cheaper option is the better option, we say so.
When a product has a real drawback — it runs small, the finish scratches, the assembly is miserable — we tell you. A recommendation you cannot trust is worth nothing to either of us.
A note on prices and availability
We do not publish prices for the products we link to, because prices and stock change constantly and a stale number helps nobody. Click through to see what something actually costs today. Availability, shipping, returns, and warranty are all handled by the retailer, not by us.
Gifted products and sponsored posts
Occasionally a brand sends us a product to try at no charge, or pays to sponsor a post. When that happens, it is stated clearly and prominently in that specific article — not hidden down here. A gifted product does not guarantee coverage, and it certainly does not guarantee a good review.
Your privacy
Affiliate links may set a cookie in your browser so the retailer knows the visit came from us. You can read more about how we handle data in our Privacy Policy.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a particular link earns us anything, just ask. We will tell you straight. You can reach us through the contact page.
